Basic 10 Gallon Setup
Last update 02/04/99

This setup has a false bottom which allows for an area for water to drain into. This prevents the substrate from becoming soaked, but still provides water for increased humidity.  I have modified this from the one on the Arizona Dendrobate Ranch.  The main modification is of the cover.  I had a glass shop cut 2 pieces of glass the width of the tank.  The front piece is 6 inches long and the back piece is 12 inches long.  This leaves 1.5 inches in the back for air flow.  I positioned both pieces of glass on top of the tank, and then cut a piece of fiberglass screen to cover the air flow opening with 1 inch of overlap in all directions. Then, I coated the bottom of the back glass and the back edges of the tank with silicon. The screen was then pressed into the silicon on the back glass. I placed clear packing tape over the silicone and glass so that it would hold everything together while the silicon set up.  I repeated this process for all the edges of the air flow opening.  You can also use the clear tape as a hinge between the front and back glass.  Allow the silicon to cure for a few days before introducing any animals.
